Haven't received any post for the last few weeks which was odd, spoke to the postman who comes to my work and he said that Royal Mail were testing a new scheme of halfing the number of vans and putting two posties per van in the SL1 and SL2 post codes.

Of course this failed, and he said there is a huge back log of mail at the depots, and they have been told to only send out that days post and we will be lucky to see what we are missing.

Would it be possible to collect from the depot??? As long as I have Id etc...?

Would have thought so.

Usless cunts. Surely they are breaching some contract they have in place when someone posts something.

They're trying to implement this scheme everywhere to save money on postman.

Essentially, 2 walks, 2 people, 1 van, they do all the stuff for that walk, mail and parcels, as opposed to having a driver specifically for all the parcels. So posties will be carrying more, walking slower, and expected to do more in their time

Everyone thinks it's a fucking stupid idea, and it seems like it is.

Not sure about collecting your mail though, it's probably un-sorted collecting dust in a corner somewhere. But it might be worth a go

Fucking stupid only sending out the days post though, the management is a complete farce.

There are laws about delivery of mail, or non-delivery of mail, can get people sacked and jailed for it

fuckin serious! thats wilful delay a sackable offence. you should report your delivery office, i would and im a postman myself lol. we are testing that 2 to a van scheme in the north east from next march i think. sounds promising......not. and you can collect your mail if its there. might of been returned to the sorting centre or returned to sender...

3 Special Next Day Delivery 9am Items have gone missing in the last 7 days for me. I'm absolutely livid, when you phone up all they say is you have to file a lost form for the item after 15 days.

But hey, what can you do, there's no private company who deliver post like there should be! If I had the money, i'd start one.

Makes me laugh when people take it out on the posties delivering the mail. Do people even realise they dont have a say in anything and they usually laugh and just go along with these radical plans to prove a point. Down our road of about 200 houses it was split from one round into the end of 7 other rounds!

It took 5 days for Snail Mail to deliver a parcel 2.3 miles to me! If I had known the factory was so close I would of picked it up!

What he said, the vast vast majority of people delivering think the new system is shit. I would much prefer to go in at 4 every day, get delivering for 7, and home for 11, people would get their mail earlier, before work etc... which I think most people want, and i'd get the day to myself to do whatever.

There's 1 round in 10 or so (roughly) at our office that's been made "lapsing" so every day we do our proper rounds, then have to split the other one between us, if there's no time they send it out on overtime, so the poor bastards who live on that 1 walk don't get their mail till 2pm onwards

There are private companies sending mail (DHL/TNT) but they all use Royal Mail to deliver the mail.

We used to get two deliveries, one about 8:30am and the other about midday. Now we get one if we're lucky and its always at a totally random time.

They just find it easier to place blame on people without knowing the facts.
I hear about all the shit that goes on all the time, like bulking up deliveries on trolies beyond legal weight and then shaving 20 minutes off the time allowed to deliver
