Hey All
I'm not sure if any of you read the thread about me training to be an electrician? well I started college and was working with a company who were niceic registered.
I was self employed and working as a contractor. after a bit of time i realised something wasn't right and that I was getting taken for a mug by my boss, My college tutor told me to find myself a new company so i went on the search.
my friend has just rang me and told his boss all about me and my situation, I now have an interview to become an electrician installing solar panels and central heating systems
Absolutely Buzzing so to speak, Hopefully this is the turning point I have needed and my career can finally start moving again

Nice one, just read your thread today in PL about your situation. Good luck, helps too that you know someone within the company too

Thought the plumbers do the wiring?
Suppose you would on new builds actually.

Plumbers do the pipe work but cant touch wiring I believe. well for both my old company and this one I got the interview for, we have to install it from scratch if its a newbuild or fault find and test existing wiring.

Plumbers can defo wire up the boiler from existing wiring, but can't wire the boiler from the main breaker box.

You dont need to be qualified to wire your own house, you only need to be competent BUT it would still need testing by someone with Part P, then if you had done it all wrong, it would need ripping out and starting from scratch, which happens a lot
