my car dotn start i aitn really bean driving it 4 a while cos i done me bakc in the only way to start it if from a jump start, u drive round 4 ages and switch off ans then dont start again. the alternater is pretty new and high spec, nearly new hevy duty calcium batery and most my ice aint in my car at the mo, every time u start it its like a machine gun noise apart from that wen its just started it sounds fine?? any ideas? u think its the staters moter or soem cables 2 it? thats what i think or n e 1 esle got n e ideas or had some prob its a 93 gsi cheeerss

gotta be starter if alternators fine - batterys in good nick and theres no short circuits with them two.

My guess is its the solenoid on the starter motor (the bit that fires the startermotor gear forward to engage it with the flywheel) U tried taking it to a garage yet?

thanks 4 ur replys na not yet, i just had a quick look but not takin it 2 a garrages yet, gota get me dad or sumin 2 drive it cos of me back

Yeah, check the starter solenoid, also check the engine earth straps.
Common for them to corrode and break off.
