Criteria;
Not painfully slow (something about 100bhp per tonne)
Not shit on fuel
Got to Insure the girlfriend who is a new driver on it as well, so has to be insurance friendly.
Nothing too big (linked to the above!)
Would like a decent sound system if possible and a bit of comfort.
Any ideas on what cars to look out for? I know it is a bit vague, but thought I might get a few ideas from you lot.

I'm sick of reading these threads now there is a new one every day practically.
Honestly how can you not know what you want to buy?
I know exactly what car i want next my only problem is I cant afford them. At the end of the day its a pointless exercise making these threads as no matter what people suggest you are just going to buy your choice anyway....

tbh some of the suggestions that come up in these threads are good a they are the 'out of the box' choices that hardly anyone thinks of.
granted most of the time it's the 172/182/golf/a3/fiesta answers but sometimes you do get a good'un.

Why would I ask the question if I actually knew what car I wanted for 2k? Sure if i had 5k+ i wouldn't need to ask as I know a few cars I'd like, but I haven't.
It's a car forum, do you want to me to give you a rather long and boring insight into my life before i'm allowed to ask a simple question to get some rough ideas? I'm not up on the current car market as I haven't bought a car for 2/3 years and I'm unaware of the pro's and cons of a lot of the cars available. My last 2 cars have been 306's which I like but are starting to get old and I fancy a change.
It's clear what the thread is about by the title, so if you are sick of reading this type of thread try reading the titles before clicking on them, not hard really is it?
