Mot has nothing to do with the car being registered. They will just put it as a standard engine.

Surely if they put in the computer that it's a 1.4 or whatever it is on the logbook the emission readings are going to be way over

Depends if they notice.
Either way, it needs registering properly so you can insure it properly and depending what you converted from you may be in a different tax class.

Yeah it's a bigger engine, also I bet it hasn't got a CAT.

maybe, don't quote me on that. The 1.6s are in the same tax bracket, don't know how much that has to do with the emissions though.

Based on engine capacity assuming the car was registered before 2001. Threshold is 1549cc so if you converted from a C16XE / X16XE it won't change but everything else it will.

just take it for an MOT, and if it hasnt got a cat on. Then just tell them its a 1992 engine or older..

I think they get quotes before they convert it
I can't insure one in L postcode, hence why my GSi stayed a 1600. You might fair better if you're CH?

I tried this and found it hard to convince anyone that it was true. Even when I pointed out where to see the regs online he said he didn't want to run the risk. Thank fuck for friendly testers
