Im badly stuck on what the hell to buy the rents for chritmas ..... normally give up and buy them books, booze and cds ...... thinking seriously about one of these amazon kindle jobbies

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002Y27P46/?tag=googhydr-21&hvadid=6079324326&ref=pd_sl_wie95adkd_e

Any of you use them .... do you think my rents - both in their 60's are going to actually use the thing if I buy it - or are they going to be so used to reading books that its not going to be usefull.

Personally im tempted to get one for myself at some point- the screen looks really good on the new version, like reading from a book but a bit clearer.

Any of you use them?

the reviews are shit hot to be fair - just looking around now on the net - cant find a bad word to be said.

Nice that you get stuff like wikipedia on it, english dictionairy ect ect.

The thing im not sure about is actually what its like reading a whole book off one if you are used to having an actually book in front of you

Tbh they look really good. Especially for holidays as it saves taking loads of books with you which take up space.

I'd get the iPad from TJ Maxx personally, but Kindles are ok, if you like just reading i suppose.

60+ year old with an iPad would be the coolest kids in the waiting room.

yeah - i mean obviously they dont do as much as a tablet does ... but my mum has a pc that she uses, and my dad doesnt have a fucking clue about any technology - they mainly read, or watch tv..... now they are going on holiday more as they are both retired this kind of small unit kind of makes sense

Think I might just order one up - if they dont use it I will happily take it off their hands lol
