Was looking for a new project to mess about with and my sister told me about her boyfriends brother having an old escort just sitting there on there drive. Went to have a look out of curiosity and was met with this
Nice escort
Had a poke round, boot arches underneath all the usual places and couldnt belileve the condition it was in. Only 32k on it, bar a cracked headlight lense it looked good to go. Gave a cheeky offer of £100 and hey i was then the owner of a mk2 fiesta
Had a better look at the car and found a few faults but still nothing majour. Rear drums were almost empty and served no purpose, inside there were just bits of what used to be rear brakes. Lots of speaker wireing i tidied up and it was lowered about 60+mm all round which gave a vile ride so standard springs back in and a polish and it was starting to take shape.
Took it for its MOT and it passed no advisorys
Bar the xr2 pots it was totally standard and now i knew it was a good'un i started a few subtle mods.
-New ford badge at front
-8 ball gear knob
-ripped off sunstrip
-lowered 30mm
-MK1 boot spolier
-fluffy dice
-New plastic fiesta badge for the back
-Xr2 spot lights
Apart from that just been trying to keep it looking nice. Back to black the sit out of it lol A good polish too
here some currentish pics
heres some pics its starting to take shape
Had a new exhaust also as it split in half. 5 trips to chemix that one.
Decided it didnt like the cold and alternator went, as did the water pump so all that and a new belt for peace of mind. New battery aswell.
Here is what happend when i got bored oneday
Back to ow it was now.
Engine sould be out this side of xmas in favour of an upgrade
I know its not a corsa but i thought id share. Comments welcome

well its an 1100 now, getting my 1.6 cvh in the next week or so. 1600 8v CVH ,Weber Twin 40's, Piper cam, Full Ashley system, Ashley manifold.
Been told its around the 135bhp mark but im not fussed, will get it RR when its all set up. Will be quick whatever the output with that set up.

32k for £100 quid, I think you stand to have made a nice investment there.

Hope so! Plan originally was too go halves on a project car with my mate but for the sake of £50 it was pointless. Was wary about going halves with someone on a car for obvious reasons anyway.

Glad to hear it, its nippy now so should go rather well with the 1.6 in it. What would you or anyone compare it to speed wise as ive never been in one thats had a 1.6 in.

To be honest im not sure on comparing it to anything but remember you will need the 5 speed linkage aswell as box if converting it to 5speed unless keeping it on the 4
Honestly awesome cars. just writing this is making me think i should go and buy another just for the crack

Can i pick your brain?
Trying to find a complete list of everything i need for the conversion. Want ideally the engine out and new one in in a day. The engine is from an xr2. Apart from engine and box what else do i need? Hard to find out exactly what i need as im gettin told different things. Any help would be greatly appreciated
