I have been looking at cars for next year, I priced up an FTO insurance wise, got a quote of just under £2000 TPFT @ 18 with 1 years no claims.

FTO is group 18/19

I would be reluctant to pay any more than £1500 for insurance, unless I had some serious cash, but maybe thats just me being a tight arsed student

My mate who is 24 with 2 years NCB was looking at getting an FTO and he was getting quotes of about £1000 fully comp.
He was getting alot less for an mr2 and celica though.

Try tesco online they do the 1.8GS and the 2.0GR V6 for the same price, the 1.8 has about 140BHP and the 2.0 V6 has about 190BHP

Look people to get an estimate work out how much u pay per insurance then times by the insurance group the car is then minus say 10% for a years NCB or even add say 15% if you ve crashed will roughly work out what u will get quoted.

like what?. Insurnace companies are only worried about wheather cars likely to get nicked thats why you have an insrunace grouping. Then they work out a rate of what to charge you depending on your age, experience, convictions, the area u live in. arrest my case.

Sorry but you have failed to mention competition schemes etc etc

I don't think that is a true reflection as many different insurance companies have alot more restrictions etc etc so you cannot say that this is even a rough estimate across the motor insurance industry

I'll prove it if you want...

Just say the word and i'll ring up my current insurance company and say quote me on a corsa gsi, see if they will touch me on that for £1200 odd

There are far too many variables involved....
