I called the estate agents this morning to tell them that i want to give my 4 weeks notice as im moving out,
they stated that this is 4 weeks notice from my next rental payment which is 15th Feb, i get the keys to my new place on 24th feb so i have no intentions to stay here until middle of march...
I thought it was 4 weeks notice from the date i send the letter???
anyone know an answer for me?
cheers

Depends what your tenancy agreement says - it might say 4 weeks from the next rental period.
Also are you out of your initial contract period?

Yeah am out the initial agreement, we also never signed for another 6months, so would just be a month to month contract I guess?

If you are out of the contract period you can give your notice whenever you like.
Sounds like the person you spoke to is a bit of a fucktard TBH.

You won't be out of contract. You will be in a rolling monthly contract. The same terms will apply as the one you originally signed, except the notice period will be reduced to one month.
Sounds about right to me.

It would depend on your tenancy agreement, sounds like they're at it though.

Yea Ive been in this situation before, Ive been unlucky and lucky, at one time we had a whole month of rent lost just so we could GTF out of the shithole, another time our tenancy agreement ended one day and the next one had started the day before so ample time to move stuff over, swings and roundabouts I guess

If you're in England or Wales you're on a statutory periodic tenancy. One month's notice is given on the anniversary date (payment date).
