Ok so had a misfire on my car for a little while (1.4 sport, corsa b) and put it down to the fact i had a hole in the induction pipe, so replaced that last night, but the misfire is still their (altough alot better, only misses every now and again, but still struggles to start up/idle properly)
Could this be down to the egr valve, and if so, what is better to replace or blank?
Thanks alot
Danny

Has the fault brought the EML on?
IIRC it's like a stepper motor for the ICV on that engine, sounds like it may be that. Although, I couldn't say without actually seeing the symptoms in person.

Sounds like damage to the wiring somewhere, could possibly be the fuel pump... But they normally just stop working. Could possibly be the cause of your misfire in the first place. If the pump has started playing up, you obviously will get peaks and lows in fuel pressure, affecting the fuel injecting. Causing rough running, and possibly causing the poor starting... Check the wiring out. Could try disconnecting the pump, putting a new fuse in, switch the ignition on. If it pops its your wiring. If not looks like its relating to the fuel pump.

yeah i was thinking fuel pump aswell, dont think i could try the fuel pump one as it only pops the fuse when the car is running, but i cant get the car running without fuel to the engine :/

Just found this again, so thought i'd post incase anyone else has similar problems and uses search, still got the problem with the missing, going to try egr valve at next pay day,
But the problem with cutting out was the live wire for the fuel pump,
when i fitted the manifold it raised the exhaust at the back and it melted through the live wire causing it to arc out, blowing the fuses, got it on a ramp at work, pulled the exhaust down and secured the wire, problem sorted
Anyone got any ideas on the misfiring though?
Will post a video if that will help at all?
Edit: also the eml keeps on coming on randomly every now and again but a short burst of revs takes it off again can you do the paperclip test even if the light has gone back off?

You can still read codes off it even if eml is off as far as im aware, sounds like egr valve as mine is doing the same but now wont start unless rev it, then it idles rough and eventualy dies.

Will be trying egr valve
mine also struggles to start without givin it revs, and if i dont hold the revs for say 30-40 secs then it dies, once it's goin though it runs fine just with a terrible idle

well eml was on all day yesterday so flashed the codes using paperclip, it seems my egr is knackered, reckon this could cause the misfire?

Try taking the EGR off and giving it a good clean with carb cleaner mate half the time they just get clogged
