I'm in a bit of a dilemma,
At the moment I have a 1year old english bullterrier,
And yesterday I found a white staffie outside my work, so let him in and called the warden,
No chip no collar, so chances are he won't be claimed, doubt he'll be rehomed as there are just so many of them homeless,
So chances are he'll be put to sleep,
I just can't help but saying I'll have him after the 7day waiting period is up,
He was a lovely little fella,
But I can't help but feel it'll be unfair on my current dog?
Financially we can easily support another dog,
But practically I don't know?

Am I just being too soft?

if you can definitely afford it and have the time to give it attention etc and walk it. Look after it properly, then claim it if nobody else does, because that's what you want to do

Yes this is true, as I assume they would be buddies lol,
Obviously I wouldn't claim him if they don't get on,
still 6 days to go yet,

Only thing I'm really worried about is my current hound is abit playful when it comes to other dogs with him still being a puppy, and not knowing the history of the new one.

Mum had her dog for around a year and a half before i decided i wanted a dog.
Introduced them and obviously they were weary of each other but soon got on and play fight etc. Neither got jealous of the other one.

They're just inseparable now

Edit: both border collies

We've had two dogs for years. When our oldest one died we had to get the younger one a friend as she got sad, I think they like having a friend

i have 2 dogs, an akita and a springer spaniel, they love eachothers company. i cant help but think a dog on its own would be bored when the owners are out.
just make sure you introduce them to eachother in a field and deffinatly not in your house/garden, thats whe worst thing you could do.
im sure you will end up with the dog, i love staffies

We have two, got one 2 years before the other. There was a bit of scrapping in the beginning, but that was just sorting out who was boss. Best not to try and get involved in that.

Now they're best friends, proper comedy duo.

I had to play the waiting game with my old Dobermann. Two weeks to see if anyone claimed her, she was one of the best dogs I've ever had. Lived to 14 too, which is about 5 years longer than most of her breed.

Two dogs is always better than one. Asking as you can afford it and have the space.
Allways good to have a playmate.
Obviously they have to get on

This.

When we got our second greyhound, the first one didn't feel so lonely/stopped whining when we had to leave her at home by herself i.e. to go out anywhere briefly or whatever.

It will be fine we have a Rhodesian Ridgeback, she is about 8 years old now. We ended up taking in a Dingo cross Alsatian, they got along fine, when the Dingo died we got another and they get along fine. Your dog will like having a companion of it's own species.

Mine where brothers and fought alot. This wasn't too bad but it was because the first dog was proper stupid and very stubborn. They got on great 97% of the time and when the first one died my first dog was SO sad he wasn't around anymore. Broke my heart seeing him like that tbh

Whilst I would say it's probably better to have 2 dogs, it would of course depend on the individual and it's personality.
