Make sure the VTR you get has the same number of plugs on the ecu, would make things easier.
i.e. if your VTS ecu has 3 plugs get a vtr with 3 plug ecu

I think its straight forward if the loom matches the engine. For example, a phase 1 loom will match a phase 1 engine, and a phase 2 loom will match a phase 2 engine. So aslong as u get the phase right it shud be ok, but I'm not 100%, maybe try saxpeience or 106 owners? This is a corsa site afterall

Why get a VTR, why not a 1.1 forte or something and transfer the whole engine/loom etc. Would be a much cheaper base.

Just make sure the plugs match like everyone has said, otherwise you get into transplanting the whole interior loom!

No, but as I said was just thinking of the cheapest and easiest way to do it.

Maybe worth just finding a cheap vts to start with and just sell the 'mint' engine. I picked up a very clean mk2 vts for £650 with t&t a few months ago and runs spot on.

Phase one VTS can be had for pennies now, it would be easier to do that.

If you can get a VTR dirt cheap then why not. If it isn't the same ECU, then it'll be more hassle!

the 2 versions are 3 plug and 1 plug but thats for the ecu and you would b e using the ecu and loom with the engine so wont need to worry about it, theres not really much to the wiring on the vts at all

IIRC: VTS has a Magneti Marelli ECU very different to the VTR.. You'll need to change everything.
