Has anyone had a situation where they have ordered their tax disc online, and whilst waiting for the disc to come in the post have been issued a notice by the police for failing to display tax?

Online it says you have 5 days from when you ordered/paid for the disc.

Who do you contact about the disc? Police or DVLA?

Cheers

Presumably there's details on the fine about how to contest it, then you'd present your evidence on why it shouldn't have applied to you.

The 5 days rule is only if you have ordered it a number of days before it was due to expire.

Yeah if it's not displayed, even if it is actually taxed, won't really hold much water with the Feds.

There's a car by me not displaying valid tax, yet according to the dvla website it has it. Can you report these things? Not that I really would

Nah lad, it's 5 working days after the purchase date. So you should phone them up and contest it.

I always fuck up and remember the day before it runs out. Always been 'taxed' but not displayed. Never had anything from it.

you can order it the night before it runs out and wait the 5 days.

doesn't matter that you only ordered it 2 minutes before it expired.

mine didn't turn up for ages because of new year but i didn't get done for it.

Went down the police station today, they said I should contest it as I clearly paid for it and was waiting for it to come via the post when I got the ticket...

I just hope the dickhead of a copper who put the ticket on gets what he deserves- as my girlfriend was saying I have the print out, proving that I have paid for the tax disc in the glove box, which he wouldnt look at!

you will be FINE!!!

they will wipe it out as its a general mistake.. but they also know that people just ring and pay without contesting it.
