The roads further north in the Elan Valley are much more fun and scenic imo.

thats what i like about it. There's sooo many roads to go on after the black mountains. Loads of us usually do our planned route once every summer which is around 150 mile route.

I plan to go when I've got a more suitable vehicle. I've no doubt it's still great scenery but the Primera just isn't cut out for fun roads

most of those pictures are at the top of the mountain, the other side is a steep decline down on the roads.
Amazing for going up! Foot planted to the floor

Last time i went up was in the total fog and a crappy slow car; quite scarey at times with the drops.

Do plan on taking the 172 in summer, amazing roads!

can you remember where the really long quite steep incline is up from the bridgend area? nath has taken me up there but can't for the life of me remember where it is

the ice cream stop is cool as well, being chased by sheep, remember watching a astra vxr go bombing past us whilst there waited a few mins and saw it bombing along the road down the bottom overtaking everything

You probably mean the Bwlch (A4061). Up the hill from Nantymoel, then down the other side to Treorchy. I had to do that route for work for a few weeks. Great fun in a hot hatch

Thats what it's been like every time for me in my Mazda, which is why I've only got pictures of my old car from up there (the Octy vRS)

It is an utterly SHIT road when you can't see anything!

You meaning the A4067 Gez, or the 4069? The A4069 from Llangadog to Brynamman is probaly the best road I know, and that's where the first two photos in this thread were taken - at 'that' corner
