id say 250quid would get you going potentially.... best thing to do is buy equipment bit by bit to less the pain as there is alot involved once established i.e test kits and fish which are'nt cheap
my smallest 60 litre tank has
clown fish 15quid
gramma 15 quid
black stripe dottyback 10quid
white stripe goby 18quid
shrimp 16 quid
snails 5 quid x3
hermit crabs 5 quid x5
mushroom corals 20 quid
couple of other soft corals 30 quid
live rock about 6 kg's and that is 10 quid a kilo soon adds up haha
I think I must have spent the best part of £7k on my setup now including the quarantine tank in the garage.

My mate has a nice setup, think he spent over 10 grand on it. Sectioned off part of the room for pumps, computers etc.

That looks like an amazing tank! As soon as I have my own place I will be doing something very similar, and I've got the GHL Profilux EX III computer on order now too :-) Im going on holiday for a week in March and this computer will constantly monitor the temperature, salinity, pH, water level etc, and will text me to let me know if there are any problems. You can also remotely control all of the pumps, lights, heaters etc so if anything goes wrong while Im away then hopefully I will be able to sort it out, because my mum has no idea haha.

Used to love our old tank, the clowns used to just sit in the anemone and enjoy life

After doing a lot of research I am pretty sure that I have decided to set up another tank so I can keep a Peacock Mantis Shrimp.
