What are the pros and cons on 4-1 manifolds and 4-2-1 manifolds?

4-2-1 low down the rev rage gain and 4-1 is better top end.

Really? I thought 4-2-1 was better full stop because of the smoother air flow.
Edit: I know nothing though, thats just an assumption on my behalf.

Would be going on a 1.6 VTS, i'd assume a 4-2-1 would be the best bet, to get more out of the low end?

4-2-1 has been proven to give better and smoother gains.

If that was the case, f1 teams would have used 4-2-1 on the current v8s

There's a hint in the 'v' bit - each side runs 4 cylinders.

4-1 will make all the power top end, hense why F1 teams use that setup as they're constantly flat out
