what im looking at is doing the front and rear bumper inserts covered in carbon.. Obviously it wouldnt be cutting the bumper up and making bespoke carbon bits.. more along the lines of getting some real bits layed over the top of the plastic parts
dont know if that makes sense cos im very tired right now

A few of the local guys on the viper club had some front canards made from carbon by a local company.
I think they found them on yell? Will try and find out for you.

Don't do it Steve, it's well known that fiberglass, filler and other similar/resin based stuff doesn't like sticking to plastic. Just find someone else with a 'future donor car' who's recently turned it into a donor car and get the bumper off of it and have an insert made for the bumper.

You could skin them yourself (Ed will hate this but as you're only after the aesthetics its perfectly acceptable)

I don't think skinning's a good idea on a plastic bumper - see above. That's my main gripe with the idea.

Is it not just the inserts? I'm not really paying attention or reading things today tbh

Had a loot at this bumper before as Steve mentioned he wanted it in carbon a while back. The inserts are actually the main structure of the bumper and aren't painted. The painted parts would technically be classed as inserts as they are glued/plastic welded on.
(It's the black parts he wants doing):

be easier to tool straight off those and make replacement parts rather than trying to do anything with the oem parts

Getting it done right will be a higher outlay at first, but then in the long run you wont have to buy a new bumper when you knock it and the carbon skin cracks off
If I can get carbon roof Mk2 done without any fuck-ups then I'd be more confident doing stuff for mates so then it would just be material costs. Depends on if you want it done any time soon.
