patches give you nicotine mate, what you are already addicted to.

I know, hence you're replacing your addiction with the same thing, just in a different form. The only way to actually quit is to just stop and deal with it for a while until you can wake up and not want one.

Aye but when you smoke it's not just nicotine you are getting, the nicotine is actually pretty harmless its the rest of the crap that does you in. And as said the point of the patches is so a person can combat the habits formed without the added extra physiological withdrawls from nicotine. Doing it separate increases your chances = more likely to succeed.

I'm always quitting and starting again, I once quit for 7 months-ish and my sense of smell or taste never improved, my ability to take in a proper breath was improved, but the air is manky round here anyway so it makes no difference lol

Getting hypnotised to stop smoking? I've heard it all now.

Seriously though, go to your Doctors (Nurse) and ask for Champix these are tablets which help/will stop you from smoking, my gf is taking them at the moment she has been on them for a few weeks and already she does't have cravings any more. You do have to take them for a couple of months or so, and have fucked up dreams but they seem to do the trick.
