Probably best off looking for something second hand for that price mate Re: low light, that's all down to the lens. If you want to do long exposures then pretty much anything will be ok (have done several with the lens that came with my camera) but if you want to take "normal" shots in low light without a flash then you need a lens with an aperture of F1.8 or similar.

I've only ever heard good things about the 450D so if you can get one in your budget then go for it If memory serves, Deano87 has one

I also have the 450D and it is spot on.

Depending on your budget however, there is now newer models out above this one - the 500D, 550D and 600D.

Check out some photography forums for 2nd hand ones.
Any serious photographer will take care of their kit, so there are a lot of bargains to be had and the cameras are generally like new.

Just find out the shutter actuation count for the camera.
The 450D's shutter duration is around 100,000 actions.
