BMW engines need seals changed (from what I've heard hence not using it on my 320d)
There's a pdf somewhere online that shows compatibility with VAG engines, pretty much all 1.9 PDs can take it straight from the factory.
There's a filling station near me that sells RME which I'll be trying with the new car. Less gloopy than straight veg oil but will probably still fire in a tenner of diesel with each tank.
Worked out it should save me about 100 quid a month even paying 1.10 for the RME and losing some economy.

So what you're saying is that if I filled my old mans 10 year old VW Polo diesel (1.5 I think) with some standard veg oil from the local supermarket it will still get him to work and back everyday?
What the punishment for getting caught?

should work fine, no punisment for using it. You're allowed to use 2500 litres a year before you have to pay tax to the government but they've got no way of knowing how much you're using
