Hey guys, as you all know, our motors tend to lose some bhp over time and use, for example my 1.6 when made was putting out about 104bhp, but 12 years later what can I expect? 80/90bhp?
My question is, other than an engine rebuild and mods, what can I do to try and breathe some life back into it?
Thanks

if its been looked after it shouldnt have lost anything. its a myth generated by top gear that every car does this.

What Lee said. I had my old car rolling road tested twice, one year apart at the same place. The second year round it produced 3bhp more than the previous year, and it was 10 years old.

To be fair they are comparing 70s/80s more exotic cars most of the time, not a 1990s shopping cart.

very cheap knackered supercars which didnt run right anyway, but also at the time they were made they were in a high state of tune anyway for the time using older technology.
so now anyone who saw that episode used to tell me my saxo wont have had 120bhp+ because it was old and was probably only about 60bhp

I had my Corsa rolling roaded at about 60k and it hadn't lost any bhp.
My Nova was made with 55hp 26 years ago
