Can anyone tell me how the standard 1.2 8v exhaust came?
Did it have a fairly solid mounted rear section with a flex join at the front?

manifold - downpipe with cat as one piece - centre pipe with silencer - backbox
the centre pipe and backbox are hung with rubber so are pretty flexible, they dont come with flex joins though

Thats strange then. When i bought the car, it had holes rusted through the whole cat back pipe and the back box was so rusty that what was left was only sitting on the hangers and not connected to the pipe.
Anyway, had a cheap 2.25 inch press bent cat back made and someone who followed me told me the back box wobbled like nobodys business, so an extra mount was fitted to stop the wobble and it kept breaking at either the pipe or the stupid place it was mounted. To the spare wheel well! Which it eventually tore a large hole in. Had that fixed about 5 times until i switched to 2 inch mandrel bent cat back. So far its broken the extra mount, so ive left it to wobble and then its broken the welds on both flanges connecting the pipe sections over the rear beam twice (current problem) and it wobbles.
How is this corrected?

Could it be engine mounts?
The vibration is only really down to how far the engine moves.

Possible i guess, but id expect the welds on the 4 branch to break too and they havent.
Thinking i should get the guy who built the exhaust to grind weldprep chamfers in the flange holes and use more amps when welding it back up, as it only ever breaks the fillet weld off the flange

New engine mounts, or fill them with some kind of rubber.
