Since the latest software update, mine does this with Portal 2 (have not tried other games).

Sounds like a vacum cleaner!!!

Ive seen a few posts on the net saying its due to it using so much of ps3's gpu?

Aye, what I mean is you dont normally hear the fan but with this game its noisey
