Basically, i've got a 1.4 8v SRi, L- 93. Recently had tapping noise coming from under bonnet at around 2000 rpm, sounds like tappets but worse. It seems to have lost a little power too.. any idea's people, any help would be much appreciated.

they dont have chains. corsas have belts. well 1.4 16vs do.
cud b cambelt tensioners too. or water pump.

know it sounds daft but have u did a oil change? or checked the oil?

ok this my help you. I have exactly the same car as you and iv expiereced taping and knocking for over 6 months only when i floor the accelerator or im in a high gear going slow, the same aswell with loss of power. on the way home from work on Friday the noise got worse and worse and then i lost all power (couldnt go faster than 10mph) its been to the garage and it has a bent valve and is not firing on all the cylinders im not looking forward to how much this will cost. good luck
