Yo guys, my corsa c20xe bogs down randomly in the lower revs. Its fine once the revs get up but from 1k upto about 3.5k it bogs down and doesnt pull very well.

I havent yet looked at plugs/leads etc, is that likely?

Also its fitted with a shitty cone filter, my old XE didnt like a cone filter but not sure it would cause this?

i read that some dont like a cone filter. tv it whas.

Yeah they do tend to run better on standard airbox. Not sure the filter would cause my problem tho

Check for an air leak around the throttle body area, inlet etc.

The induction hoses tend to go brittle and split considering some of them are about 15yrs old

That's an early engine then, i had a late type with a similar problem turned out to be a knackered fuel filter

I'd say a air leak, or air flow meter. Maybe even the loom.

How can I test the AFM?

I checked it yesterday and the wire is still intact

With regards to the cone filter, i had a k&n fitted to a dizzy type Cav GSI and it was fine. Fitted to the same filter to a late dispac Calibra and it ran like a sack of shit, no power at all in low revs but like you say picked up a little the higher the rev range.
