Importing a car into Ireland you have to pay VRT. However, not quite sure what way it works the other way around

A lad I know imported a Transit 4x4 (Very rare) a few years back. All he did was fly over there then pick the vehicle up and drive it back.

Unsure how he went about registering it, Last thing I heared about it he had stripped the 4x4 system off it and scrapped it.

I dont think you need to if the cars older than 10 years old , which it is.

Its abit of a head mash...... by looking at some site if the cars older than 10 years old i just have to have an mot and then i can register it in the Uk. But i guess i will have to have it trasported back as i wont be able to tax the car for the uk to drive it?!!??

If its taxed and NCT'd in ireland you will still be able to drive it here untill you get it registered here.

Edit - Thats how long it is in Ireland driving on English plates, so presume it's the same driving over here.

Isle of Man is classed as UK is it not? So would assume you would'nt have to do anything. Correct me if im wrong though.
