whats the best way to get the rear dampers off a corsa b without the silver damper part spinning while trying to un-do the top nut ?

Get a 6mm spanner and put that on top of the piston (the silver part that spins round). You can do it with an adjustable if you don't have a 6mm spanner but it's not as easy as adjustables tend to be chunky and get in the way

molegrips on the top of you dont have a small spanner to fit the top

I too use molegrips, plus a ratchet spanner.

Ratchet spanner is perfect for getting the nut off Much less hassle.
