The logical step up from adminstrative assistant is either financial work or IT, then management and decision making. If you don't want to end up running the finance of the place or fixing databases, leave now.

Well i have been recently thinking of working with children....something completley different, in a creche or something along the lines of that, but i dont know how to go about it.

Well as i say, i was working for 4 years, plus 4 years studying. And im not doing IT now.
Every buggers doing it, and the IT market is at the worst i've seen it in 4 years!!!

Im losing faith in IT went on a TCP/IP Course last week in london, sat here thinking wtf am i doing in a room full of geeks.

It depends what you like, everyones doing it... its just boring. Depends where exactly you go into it.
if you enjoy computers and talking about routers and lan configurations all day then you will love it.

Try for police control, tehy pay V. good money and look for people with your experience. it's a really interesting job aswell, hard, but interesting.
