lookng at upping the stiffness at the rear, is there anywhere that produces stiffer springs than say the likes of gmax etc?

what would be a good poundage to aim for,
also a good set of rear shocks?

considering gaz coilies for the front, & all four corners at -40mm

cheers x

I had some 300lb 90mm rear springs from pazz a while back with cheapy rear shocks and they were great.probably the best set up iv had on the rear for how low it was.

300lb must be what mine are then, mine are stiff. But handling is perfect.

I had 300lb rear springs which had a drop of 70mm on a stripped cAr, with the whiteline rear arb and just some uprated shortened rear shocks.
I kept the front arb with a 40mm front drop and uprated dampers again.

It did make for a very stiff rear end which induced slight oversteer because of this coupled with a softer front end aided turn in/front end grip.

You've also got to consider that I had a full 10 point cage as well.

But I wanted it this way and enjoyed driving it like this as I preferred a bit of oversteer.

I think it went quite well with this set up, although you would have to ask my passengers and people who see it on track.

gaz will do any spring rate you ask for, they come as standard with like 180 lb rears though as that is more suited for rallying, which is where most of the coilover kits gets their base settings from, but if you just want some springs, go to www.coilsprings.co.uk

are you running a whiteline rear anti roll car? as my rear used to 'bouce about' as you say, and i was running 70mm rear springs and stiffened shocks, and this anti roll bar iv put on had stiffened it up no end!!

no real way of telling if the dampers will be ok with the stiffer springs, depends on their damping rate range, but more than likely will be fine imo

My -90mm 300lb springs were awful with my Bilstien B10 shocks.

They were great with the stiffer cheaper shocks.

Are you gonna fit a cage also. It really does stiffen it up LOTS. I know mines only a rear half for now, but I took it out a few months back, drove my car and it felt like jelly lol.

Even the new lower brace I invested in last month is amazing!

probably as most ‘cheap’ dampers whack the bump rate right up to give a ‘sporty’ feel to the ride, ironic really as it will be rubbish with soft springs

and yeah, chassis stiffness is not to be overlooked, especially on an older car
