I'm going to see if I can set it up on my laptop using my Dads Sky info Is it the same as what they used to have where you could watch stuff online but only if you had Sky World and their top broadband package?!

You can view all the sky channels (that you are subscribed to) by logging in with your sky id, I've got mine open in a little pop up window like so:

Thats what I was meaning cos with sky player you could only use it if you had certain packages. Sounds like anyone can use it on this one though so I will give it a spin.
Whats the picture quality like?

not sure thats right matey .... basically my sky player, suddenly turned into sky go ... I had to still enter my user name and password which is linked to my home sky account .... I still can only view sports and the free stuff which I pay for...cant get anything else as far as I can see?
Seems like they have just rebranded skyplayer to me.... not knocking it - just wondered if sky go actually gives you anything that i player didnt?

I also have sky player on my friends x box ...linked to my sky account - most of my friends still dont have sky so this lets everyone watch sports round there(apart from when ive got it on my laptop at work lol)
Got sky ap on my iphone too - which is the only reason I have ever wanted a next gen phone .... watching footy and cricket on your mobile in hd is amazing it has to be said..... picture quality on mobile and sky go is epic as long as your internet connection and screen is decent.

It may well just be a rebrand of skyplayer then. You can choose things like your favourite teams and it'll show you stories along the bottom of the screen relating to the clubs etc (bit gimmicky that).

I tried to sign up to Sky Player to watch Sky Sports channels using my Dads details and I wasnt able to because he didn't have the top broadband package.

Cool this sounds like it will work for me then.
See my thread in the related threads below where I found that I couldn't do it with the old skyplayer cos you needed either multiroom or the top broadband package.

that might be it then .... I pay for my parents sky sports - so i can rob it on mobile and sky player .... im pretty sure they have multiroom on their contract at home so you could well be right .... sky go might not have such restrictions

Bit disappointed with the amount of channels on the iPhone app but it was great on Sunday when trying to watch the match in a crowded boozer when I couldn't see the tv.

Used sky go all yesterday for the footy. Picture quality is very good, just like watching it through a non HD sky box when I had the laptop plugged in to the TV So I now have Sky Sports
