is it made in mid 80s? all the japan ones on ebay are and seem to be worth quite a bit

Original Fender Strat's are worth a fortune, but when I say original I don't mean the jap remakes. Obviously.

I'd say about £350-450 would be a good price for it if its in good condition (no dents e.t.c)

Is that a battery plate on the back?
I'm guessing it has active circuitry

Nope they're passive pickups. Thats the input access panel.

Its not an output. You plug the lead into it therfore it is an input.

I've never heard it being called an input not even when working in studios, always an output as it's a (output) source. Input would be the amp/head (or DI/line in on what ever gear).
Also 'You plug the lead into it therfore it is an input' doesn't make sense, you plug a lead into a CD Player but it doesn't make it an input; it's an output.

It's an output, but to be fair it's also known as input too.
Wiki lists it as:
output connector (input jack)

Technically it is an output because the signal is leaving the guitar so yeh you're right there but I have always called it the guitar input. I've never referred to it as an output and I've been playing for over 10 years and have also worked in production and engineering both in live sound and studios. Never discussed guitars with real guitarists regarding the jack output. From a technical POV, it's an output, from a musicians POV its an input.
