Starts fairly quick on my dying laptop, must be super fast on a modern computer with an SSD.

Install was steady away but running is very quick on mine (can't remember spec, dual core 3gig I think, few gig of ram)
Lack of start is annoying. The gay new screen should be an option

All you have do to is Windows key + m at any point and you'll be back to a normal desktop.

It's not really a normal desktop though.

All bar the start button really, you can still pin things to the taskbar for quick access.

people are assuming this metro interface is like an addition that runs over the top of normal windows, eg like media center or something, that doesnt appear to be the case well certainly not for this preview anyway, the interface IS windows, and anything else is running over the top of that, including the "normal" looking desktop

Without the obvious bugs etc this will be an epic OS for a tablet. Has the layout etc for a touchscreen yes has the option to use the proper desktop.
If they pull this off i'd be very tempted for a tablet with it on+windows phone and * on my PC.

The metro interface will be completely useless for business.
Most of the people I deal with can't work out the ribbon interface in office without the whole way of working in windows changing.
