Hi, if I sell a camera on ebay for a bout £1000, how much will it cost me in fees?

I found a calculator thing online that said it would cost me about £80, but was talking to someone today and they were saying it will be more like £150

About 10% is usually accurate by the time you've transferred the money as well.

Shouldn't be over £100, they don't take the piss that much, just a lot.

Daft but that is where the price will probably be best so it does kind of even out.

I do utterly hate the monopoly that they have though, lot of money that.

It is, but like u say ian, u get what its worth.

Where else can you find millions of buyers for anything you want to sell.

Gumtree is doing ok, but its not even close yet.

My one is more accurate (from the same site) because a camera is listed under technology products... Slightly cheaper fees.

Camera sold today for £1120, current final valuation fee is at £39.97 with no gallery or insertion fee.

I think they buyer is going to pay with a cheque as they dont have paypal, is this going to be dodgy? The buyer has 100% 70 odd feedback score all on decent stuff (not 10p keyrings etc)

Fine as long as you wait for the cheque to clear, bank transfer would be better.

Probably safer for you providing you wait till cheque clears before sending

Cheque is obviously much better if you want to avoid the paypal fees. But yea, wait until it clears before you send.
