I like my job. Admittedly it was a bit grim yesterday putting a roof on in the pissing rain and I wouldn't do it if I didn't get paid but I certainly don't dread going in a morning.

I think it's quite important for doctors to have relevant qualifications too.

Most of the people(that are unemployed) in the mentioned age group are lazy. the one and only reason.
Some how I manage to have a job, decent car and study full time achieving decent grades all round, yet not have any debt what so ever.
Fair enough I live with my parents but fuel costs me what rent would or close to that figure. And my job is not that well paid... Will be paying off my tuition fees tomorrow. So that's me on 3rd year of uni with no debt what so ever.

All the people I know who are unemployed (and it's not many) are through choice.
The one exception is my nephew who wants a joinery apprenticeship but no local firms are taking on at the moment so he's been doing temp work for the council (bins etc) and whatever casual work he's offered for now until he can get the job he wants. Pity more youngsters don't have that attitude.

My mate got made redundant and the only way he'll be better off is if he earns £8 p/h as the benefits for his family are as much as they are. It's insane. Where's the motivation to work if you're getting a £1k a month for doing nothing?!

I know someone who did three Docterates concurrently; He is by far the brightest person I've ever met but also down to earth. He left Uni, got a job working for an IT firm (specialising in military/commercial encryption)on £20,000 a year. Within 18months he was on £100k and now 5 years later he is on £250k.
He still drives the same Focus he had at uni and lives in a pretty normal 3bed semi. He never aspired to earn good money, He was as happy earning £20k as he is earning £250k albeit life is a bit easier for him on the upper wage

I don't think you should summarize them in that way, massive amount of people who are unemployed at the moment will be only too happy to work.
I think there is obviously a group that don't want to work and that's up to them but I don't think it's most of them, this is just something portrayed in society and a route for others to put the blame somewhere just like immigrants, we always need some group to complain about and it's normally a minority.
I think it's always a bad route to take when you think "I did it, so why can't they" - Is so many factors to think about.
I think benifits in this country are great, they are really needed for the most vulnerable people but like everything it's abused in some way.
But a lot of people moan and say child benifit means people don't bother to work etc but have they tried to live on that and survive ? I haven't so I wont make judgement.
