Potentially got a project that I want to put out to tender and i'm looking at getting it done overseas (ie: India/Pakistan) due to budget so was wondering if anyone has had experience of this and if so are there any tips, Do's/Don't, good resources/websites for tendering?

peopleperhour.com seemed full of overseas people willing to work for nothing.
I'm no longer active on there

Cheers Ian.
My main concern is what happens if the shite hits the fan and the project goes south with the developer with the project being developed abroad; basically, is it 'safe'?
Sam - is getafreelancer.co.uk, freelancer.com?

Not at all, they just put you in touch.
They'll have a list of previous work they've got, feedback etc. so you can see historical form. But you're not protected as such inside the current job.

Dom - yeah I believe it's the same as the .com (I was registered years ago on the .com and had an email at some point talking of the UK one).
Also, I might be wrong but I thought GAF and those sort of places keep hold of your funds and don't release them until you are happy with the developer's work and provide good feedback?

Actually yeah I think there is some sort of holding scheme.
Can't remember the exact details.

I've just been stung for a decent wedge by someone overseas. Fail. Now got to re-save up the money and pay reluctantly to someone in the UK I can go and meet.

Was a deposit for a printed circuit board.
Got the contact through a friend... They kept good contact, but think they did me over to do with copyright law bollocks. Just gave up in the end as the calls were costing me more. I saw evidence of some work been done, but that was the extent of it.

Cheers Sam/Ian.
Whittie - Bit of a kick to the bollocks that although copyright issues seems to be a bit more of an issue with hardware projects rather than software. Guessing they were replicating the product themselves?
