Went to a work mates house this evening for her daughter's laptop as since she updated her laptop on Saturday, it's not connecting to the internet. I tried to re-connect it by doing two things.
1. Deleted the current connection and re-installed it-Didn't work
2. Done a System Restore from Saturday and still didn't work.
Any suggestions, I haven't got the laptop with me but can text her.
Thank you.

Is there a button (usually the Fn key + one of the numerical keys on the keyboard) which lets you enable/disable the wireless? If so, check it's enabled.

there is a switch to switch it on/off and it was on.
Edit; Or is that different to what you're saying?

If you go into Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings link, does the wireless connection show up as enabled in there too?
