no point in the 3g tbh, download everything at home and transfer it, if you do happen to want to download a book when you're out and about, just pop into a McDs or anywhere with free wifi tbh

you dont need the keyboard of 3g. You log on to amazon on the laptop by a book and it gets sent to your kindle via wi fi. We have one and keyboard is never used. just makes the kindle bigger, and more expensive

Don't need 3G version imo, excellent bit of kit though.
How does the keyboard make it more expensive?

Guy at work was showing me his 3G. He said it'd work to go online anywhere in the world at any time for no cost? Seemed like a decent thing to have if that was true.;

The one with the keyboard you can go online with, you can't with the new ones.
It's completely useless though, the screen takes too long to refresh to be any good for web browsing.

TBH the net didn't seem THAT bad, although obviously a lot of stuff doesn't work like flash, etc. I just thought it was neat to be able to go online anywhere free from data charges, that includes being able to get email abroad etc.

kindle is £89. kindle keyboard is £109...£109 is more than £89, hence more expensive to have the keyboard

Excellent present. Best pressie ive ever got.
Use it all the time.
On my 3rd one as others broke, customer service being epic.
Mine broke at lunch time during work, phoned up... went through the motions of trying this and that... didnt work. Sent me out another... arrived next morning!
