Can anyone help me wiring up all my electrics. I currently have it all up and running bar the HD DVD recorder that i want to add.

The diagram in with the recorder does not tally up with what i already have. The scary plug on the rear of the Sky box goes to the bose for the sound. The dvd instructions tell me to wire the scary plug on the hd box to the recorder then from there to the tv. This does not work as i get no sound from the bose. Any ideas anyone? Its like a rats nest of wiring behind all the box's so it might all have to come out and be started again....

Without knowing what model Bose unit you have or the capability of it its hard to say of there is a better way but I would if possible. .......

Run hdmi from DVD and sky into tv and then run coax/optical to Bose from dvd and sky again that way you have one for cable for audio and one cable for video.

The Bose is a Lifestyle 48 iirc.

Got one HDMI that goes from the HD+ box to the tv

When my other HDMI arrives that will run from the DVD recorder to the tv

SCART plug on the HD+ box changes to coaxial cable then goes into the Bose.

From the TV 2 SCART plugs come out of the rear of it then are plugged directly into the Bose after changing to coaxial once again iirc.

Use optical where possible, scart to phono is a bad way to do it and won't be giving you 5.1.

Cheers, will have to pop down to the place that installed it a while back and sort out a optical cable. Just checked the TV and the Bose and both have optical ports.

Don't be conned into buying expensive optical cables, just get a cheap one off Amazon/eBay etc. Same goes for hdmi cables.

Well got a optical cable, changed the setting on the bose and connected it to the tv and the bose and boom, no sound LOL. Think I will just get the guy from the audio place out when the other cables arrive from ebay.

I can get the sound to work doing this:

Optical out on the HD+ box to Optical in on the Bose.

Why might I need to use the Optical port on the TV?

How many optical/digital coax in puts does your bose system have? If its two run an optical/coax from both sources that way you will have your multi channel audio. then just run hdmi to your tv from both sources

That's how it should be wired, the optical out on the tv will be to send sound from the tv when watching the built in freeview.
