the ejection happened on the ground, in the picture on my daily mail link the aircraft is on the flightline, with the steps by the aircraft.
No idea what happened here, They lost 2 aircraft last year, and have had 3 incidents this year now, 2 fatal.
Looks like they will be on the way out.
My thoughts go out to the pilots family, and the squadron, I met them all at Scampton last year and they were all really nice and they are an extremely small and close knit squadron.

Heard about this today.....very sad news coming off the back of Flt. Lt. Egging.
Article says 'pilot was ejected from the aircraft'. Kind of suggests to me that it's a malfunction of the seat or pilot error. Fingers crossed they get this sorted and there isn't a widespread manufacturer or servicing problem in the MP's for the seats.
RIP.......

what is it yo've rules out as what those two are the only two possibilities possible!!
it is desperately sad news and does put the Reds future at risk....
it is odd that a zero zero seat (zero speed, zero height) failed as they are designed in work in these conditions....
