A friend has kerbed his wheels on his GTR and our local Nissan GTR dealer couldnt obtain an exact colour code for the wheels so all 4 had to be repainted to ensure a match on them all.

I think it depends on how many miles you plan on doing. If buying a car with higher than average miles and you plan doing 1000 miles a month then it's probably a bad idea as it will really affect it's value.
However with you working away a lot Colin you could easily balance that mileage out with a few years ownership. I'd be surprised if you did more than 6k a year?
Therefore I think you should just buy it
