My parents pc is constantly saying no signal on the monitor, so I tried another monitor and nothing so (in my limited knowledge of pcs) I assumed graphics card but it is all built into the motherboard, so can I just order them a stand alone graphics/video card? how can I tell what one I need as I assume they have different connections?

Is it likely to be anything else?

I know nothing about computers so go easy

Open it up and post a picture of the motherboard
You should be able to add a graphics card, I'd be shocked if you couldn't.

If it's a Dell or anything we've heard of we'll probably be able to tell without a pic, but yeah, you can buy another card.

Most Motherboard will take a pci-e connection with graphics cards.

Depending on what current hardware the system has and how much you went to spend it will be really quick and easy to find one to suit.

Whoa hold the phone!

Is the PC actually booting up - i.e. does it go 'beep' after its initial POST (power on self test)? Does the hard drive sound like it's doing anything - clicking away etc.?

If it's not doing anything when you turn it on then something else is at fault.

It's got a PCI-E x16 slot so if the PC is OK otherwise, then yes you just need to purchase a Graphics card (most now are PCI-E)

PC will only beep once if it POSTs OK...

Many beeps = something has failed. How many beeps are there?
