Every time I have been in London I stay at the same place the Washington Hotel Mayfair its on Curzon Street. This was the first hotel I ever stayed in London with family when I as a kid. Still always go there when in london.

Every time i've been i've stayed in travelodges, but they haven't been "special occasions"

Always thought, A bed is a bed, don't care what it's like, i'm there for the day time, not the night time

Charing Cross hotel. Above the station. 15 second walk to Trafalgar Square. Can't get more central than that.

It's a bit of a pain if you want to head central (which case it's down to Whitechapel, H&C to Liverpool Street for Central Line) or down towards the embankment etc. But it's a really good hotel and reasonably priced, even better if you get a £1 room deal, and it's a pretty decent night out round Shoreditch.

I work at a Travelodge, and I'd never stay in one because I know how badly they are ran/maintained. The London ones are probably nicer though... either way don't expect much at all from them if you do go with Travelodge
