Yeah, like joining the army and complaining when you see people getting shot. Part and parcel of the job.

i regularly work my bait for free and just eat on the go.. helps my productivity and gives me an easyer day. plus sitting for 40 mins in the van alone is shit. i actually wish there was an option not to have any break and to be paid the 40 minutes instead... id take it instantly
1.5k a year and 100 a call out? wtf who came up with such a high and preposterous amount? why not just say if your break is interupted you can finish it+ 15 mins once the task is complete?

Earlier this year, GMB Scotland said ambulance staff were unpaid and off duty during breaks and were not insured to respond to emergencies.
Which is not the reason they rejected the proposal.
They rejected it because they want money.
Not the right to a full break, not insurance to work on the break period, MONEY
Complete bullshit if you ask me. If I was trying to get a break or eat some lunch in my job and someone came in to see me I wouldn't even turn them away and that could be help with their homework. If they were dying, pretty much less of a reason.
I would feel the biggest twat in the world even admitting to prioritising my own break over someone else for whom I am paid to serve. Quite how these people can ignore the call I don't know, absolutely shocking.
If they're not insured - fair enough, get insurance.
If they not getting enough breaks - fair enough, rota some breaks using the money you're not spending given them £100 per time. I'd quite happily lobby for better pay in the health service for front line staff, and better breaks and shifts, no one wants tired medical staff. But I also don't want inflexible greedy ones either.

its a lack of common decency
Im going to bring up the fact im self employed again...
not because im crying. Im a genuinly nice person, I have control over what breaks I take. I dont really take breaks in work because Id rather get done quick and be out of peoples way.
the ambulance service IS NOT a job for people that like sitting on their arses. must be utter cunts of people that can use a break as an excuse in suc circumstances

Surely all the money they plan to spend could pay for more ambulances/crew and there'd be no need to interrupt their break.

I think they should be entitled free meals or refund of costs if they have to leave a meal to go to a call. Thats it.

Couldn't find any figures but it would certainly go some way towards it.
