i went into vardis yesterday and had a test drive of the new astra sri gtc they come in 2 modles a 1.4 16v (120bhp) or the model i drove the 1.4 16v (140bhp) and i have to say i was verry impresed they drive mint and they are realy comfy aspecialy with a set of 19" with low profiles as optional extra they also do a 1.6 with 180 bhp just wondered if ayone els has had a go or looked at 1 proply and what they think

Sounds pretty good for a 1.4, apparently the VXR comes out in around June

ya i was talking to the woman and the VXR they are looking at putting the 2lt 16v turbo into it as well like they did the last 1 but looking to try and get around 280bhp she thinks

120bhp is good for a 1.4 but id imagine they'll be quite heavy??
Insurance should be low though, always a bonus !!

saw the gtc vxr concept thing up close and it looked fantastic.
much better then the equivilent focus, megane, golf etc. should sell well if it drives better then the outgoing model /clarkson.
interior is miles better also

i tryed the 140bhp witch was quick more power than i expected but they do 1.6 model with 180bhp but that dosnt have anything like sri on it so im not sure what type it is cos iv got the book from the dealer to read over

the 140 bhp 1.4 drove really nice and really good wanted to drive the 1.6 but they didnt have any there but i reckon that will be quick and as for the VXR GTC she says they going to be amazing

Someone I work with has gone to pickup a 1.6 GTC today, pictures look lovely - looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

VXR specs were released ages ago. 280bhp mechanical diff, brembos, hyper strut, watts linkage rear 21" wheels (optional)

2.0 diesel is definately the engine of choice, had a couple as a company car over the last few weeks. Out of the petrols it's got to be the 1.4 140ps, also the sport trim is dire!
