My dogs diabetic, just found it from the vet today. Roughly how much will it cost for insulin? I know it varies but I can't find out much and my mums waitin to here back from the vet and blood results etc but she's worrying it's going to cost hundreds a month.

Can't help on the price of it all but if you can get a prescription from your vet for the treatment you might be able to use this site and get it a bit cheaper. Vets will charge more.

Found that site and this one http://www.caninsulin.com/Managing-diabetic-dogs-insulin-dosage.asp
If I'm calculating it correctly if he's 19kg he needs 7.6-13.3 of IU and the Caninsulin containts 40IU/ML so hell need 0.2-0.3ml each dose? In that case 10ml which is £18.50 would last a month. With needles etc that would be less than £50 a month?

I know it's quite specialist and most people won't know much if anything about this

Pet insurance? does that cover things like this?

We've got it but it's a £2k per illness limit and when he hits 8 in November we've got to pay 20% of the cost of any treatment.

thats crap, i wont take any insurance out that is under 7k per condition and one of my dogs is insured for 12k per year, she used around 10k of that last year on 1 condition

100 syringes

Shop around but that seems a decent price, 100 for £12 + postage.
Will be using 62 a month so that's under £50 a month total.

2K isn't much at at when it comes to veterinary care, for example something like joint replacement would be about 4k, better to be safe then sorry.
