Swapped my Golf last night with a mate of mines for his Nova SRi.

Some people called me crazy etc but it was what i wanted and i've known the car for a while and just how well it's been looked after, and my mate's leaving the country later in the year and wanted the car to go to a good home, but needed a car to run up until he was due to leave then could sell on quickly.

Swapped last night at 6, i went home, grabbed my football kit and went played football, back out missed calls etc, phoned back said he was at my house with the Golf and wanted his car back, Golf was overheating

Being the soft cunt i am and the fact it was a mate i gave him the keys and had a look at the Golf, diagnosed it as the water pump being fucked, fired the car up, was sitting bang on 90, drove it down my street and back up to confirm, massive pothole has appeared at the bottom end of my street, couldnt avoid it, and burst the fucking sump off it, killed it and pushed it back up to my door and left it.

So now lumped with a car i dont even want that i'm going to have to throw some money at, and waste my weeks holiday i've booked in 2 weeks fixing it

And i'll probably have to sort the bodywork out too to get any decent money back on it now.

It was an option but it'll be £200 in parts and my time, was breaking even letting the Golf go for the £1500 he wanted for the Nova.

I thought if the waterpump goes then the engine implodes?

Could be a fan issue?

You could make a claim off the Council for the sump if you can prove they have been negligent.

Only if the impellors break and thats if they were plastic ones iirc. seals can still go and cause overheating without directly damaging the engine.

The impeller split in 2 on my golf. Just pulled it apart and put another one in. No other damage done
