Forging is a way of making metal harder.

yeah mainly strength I think, dont think it affects the weight unless its made from a different metal so it is lighter!

The harder the metal the more heat it can withstand.Pistons don't need to be melted

I know, i was gonna say surley all cars would just have forged pistons as standard if its not that expensive.

I ve just bought a c20xe that im pretty sure doesnt have them, is it more likely to blow up if i drive it hard ?

It's mainly for cars pushing SERIOUS bhp mate. Not that i'm saying your XE won't be eventually but you will be fine.

They just get so hot that they melt! LOL Well not really melt but distort.

Oh and they are expensive

different engine have different levels of stress that they can take! I know the H22 prelude engine is fine without them at that hp, but not sure on the c20xe!

to get 200+ bhp you would probably expect to change all parts such as pistons anyway for uprated versions!
