Not to safe to put a baby in a 2 seater! Most modern ones have an airbag for a start which you cant turn off and when they are in a fwrd facing seat i think it is illegal for them to be in the front; if not illegal strongly not advised

You've spent 1600 quid, not the extra £7000, have it as a long standing project, spend some of it on a family car and be responsible?

if you spend £8k on a car, that won't be the end of it you will spend more, imagine £8k into the imp and that could be the end of it.
you will get more satistfaction from the imp imo, buying an £8k toy/car, you will get bored of most suggestions here and the toy will become just another car.
I think car hobbies these days are about building your own thing, not buying a 5yr old car and bolting internet mods to it

I would keep the Imp. But 2k on engine tuning? Get in classifieds and find a decent Inlet, set of cams and get an exhaust manifold made up (if a Corsa one won't fit) and you're looking at well less than a grand!
