i have 3 credit cards that have nothing on them and i don't use them (1 natwest, 2 halifax).
how do i go about closing them properly?
reason for this is so i can take advantage of the balance transfer/purchase offers next time i need them.
is it simply a case of writing a letter telling them my intentions? if so, where would one find the address? not sure i have any statements or letters from them as these cards are from a while back.

Call up the card issuer and they will take your details etc and get into your account. Guessing then it would just be a case of asking them to cancel the card.

Yeah you'd have to phone or write to them I imagine. If you have the T&Cs when you got the cards it should tell you in there.
I'd keep at least one of them though TBH, buy stuff on it each month and clear the balance as it helps with credit scores and that.

found this address buried within the halifax website:
Halifax Credit Cards are issued by Bank of Scotland plc, Registered in Scotland No.SC327000. Registered Office: The Mound, Edinburgh EH1 1YZ. Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
would this be the address i need to write to in order to close my 2 halifax credit cards?

Do you have an online thing with them? I cancelled my Egg card online a while back - granted it was just a matter of sending them a message through their control panel.

Very true point, or the more annoying on recently was I took a 123 cash back card out from Santander and about a month later I got a phonecall asking if I was interested in getting one, and they woke me up in the process, I was angry.

Don't send them here, it is their head office for BoS and they are unlikely to be the ones to deal with credit cards etc Increases the chance of them going missing.
Tried to find a better address but we have over 100 accounts (each is a different address) for them.

Pick up the phone and speak to the cancellations dept, it takes 2 minutes. Can't believe this needs a thread.

I phoned up and cancelled about 5 cards last month.
One had like 8 quid on it from back in 2006!
The woman asked why im cancelling.... haha i laughed and said i havent used it in about 6 years!
Very easy to cancel and you get a letter in a few days.
