Recently sold my astra gsi as I don't really need a car anymore - walk to work etc.

Having had a car for the past 6 years I'm missing the freedom but not the expense.

Looking at getting a 125 crosser or something for the odd trip to a mates house etc, I did my CBT last year.

Anyone know the rough costs for buying a decent one (couple of years old) and getting it on the road (23 yrs old, never insured a bike) - I did a quote on confused and cheapest insurance was over £400 which I was really surprised at. i've found confused to be shit on car insurance though so i guess it might be the same on bikes.

Any offers?

For something like an RS125 1999 - 2006 your probably going to be looking at a £1000 plus, newer ones are like £1500+

Could get an NSR125 but they will be 1995 - 2002 I believe.

YZR 125 will be £2k+

DT125 look like they are £2k + as well..

Gilera Runner, ItaljetDragster 125 are all around the £1000 mark.

I'm glad I gave up on small engined bikes, they seem expensive for what they are.

E : Saying all that you could probably pick up something cheaper, cg125, or bad examples !

hi friends

I have a Suzuki EN125-2A.

It was around £1k

It is £16 a year tax

it is£60 a year insurance (fully comp through Swinton)

I get 100mpg EASY.

It is very easy to work on and i can not recommended them enough.

Make sure your helmet is the safest one around. Take a look on the http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/ site. if it's less than 4 stars i wouldn't put it on my head personally.

I bought a 2 year old Honda xr 125 with 3k on the clock for £1300

Over 16 months and 12k my costs were...

Tyres £125 for 2 (killed these green laning though)

2x oil and plug change £12

Tax fuck all (£20 or something silly)

CBT £80

Then you just have insurance/fuel/kit
